Overview

The Council’s Access to Capital cluster provides growing companies with an inside track to raising capital. The Cluster holds regular meetings to bring together companies, entrepreneurs, investors and experts involved in capital formation for technology companies. It is directed by a steering committee consisting of investors, advisors and experienced entrepreneurs with deep expertise in all aspects of raising capital.

The Steering Committee will seek to facilitate continued contacts and connections among the members between the regular Cluster meetings. Steering Committee members include: Murray Berkowitz, Kodiak Venture Partners; Ian Carver, DLA Venture Pipeline; Phil Ernst, Silicon Valley Bank; James Geshwiler, Common Angels; Bill McHale, Argo Global Capital.

Meetings will address issues such as:

1. How to prepare a company for investment: Fundamentals such creating the business model, forming the management team, setting strategy; how to do presentations to investors; preparing business plans and executive summaries

2. Navigating the investment process: Connecting with potential investors; negotiation of terms; deal points and their long and short-term effects.

3. Capital formation at all stages of a company’s life, from start-up through liquidity event.

4. Updates on the current investment climate; trends and capital sources.

Each year’s series of events leads to the Council annual Investment Conference.

Participants in the Cluster will have the opportunity for ongoing conversations and networking among companies and sources of capital.
