Overview

The Council’s “Businesss Software / SOA ” Cluster is focused on the emergence of service-oriented architectures (SOA). This approach to technology is transforming the way vendors produce offerings and how customers are expecting to be able to gain flexibility from their IT infrastructure. This cluster will examine issues such as: What are the business and user benefits to SOA?  What are the best practices to achieve and maintain those benefits?  What are the opportunities for vendors in this space?  How can they work with each other and with customers to be successful?  How can customers work with the vendor community to insure that their requirements are met?  This group will be structured as a dialog among software vendors, systems integrators, and customers.

The Cluster Organizing Committee will meet on a regular basis and be open to member executives with direct experience/expertise in the Business Software / SOA field. The Organizing Committee convenes 2-3 breakfast briefings per year where industry experts discuss the latest issues, developments and experiences with SOA approaches and implementation.  These sessions are interactive in nature and offer much networking and enichment.

Future programs will address topics such as:

  • What are the ways that companies are getting a quick return on investment from SOA projects?
  • What standards are emerging that will impact SOA?
  • Which vendors are emerging as key players?
  • How are companies creating centers of excellence for moving forward towards SOA?
  • What is the architecture for SOA?  What are the options and when do they apply?
